6 Microwave Hacks to Use When in a Hurry

Everyone knows that microwaves are great for heating up food, but they have many other facets that you may find beneficial while in the kitchen. Obviously, our time is precious, so we compiled a list of hacks that this kitchen appliance will help to immensely speed up your cook time.

1. Cook a variety of eggs

No matter what kind of microwave you have, you can cook up almost any style of egg. From poached to an omelet, make your egg do whatever you want in just a couple moments with the simple use of a microwave. To make a sunny side up egg, it only takes 45 seconds in the microwave! Now you can enjoy breakfast as you rush to work.

2. Peel Garlic

Taking the outer layer off garlic can be tedious which is the reason why many people just buy pre-chopped garlic. Of course, it’s never as fresh as the real deal. If you are ready for your world to be changed, put your garlic in the microwave for 15 seconds. The skin slides right off the garlic cloves!

3. Steam your veggies

Steaming your veggies can take a little while, but if you require steamed veggies in a jiffy, use the microwave to get your steaming done. Just put your vegetables in a bowl, making sure they aren’t too large, and then saran wrap the top. Poke a few holes in the top to help the steam escape when microwaving. It only takes about 30-45 seconds!

4. Get more juice out of your citrus

If you want to get the most out of your citrus juicing, a trip to the microwave and 10 seconds later gives you a little bit more juice than you could squeeze out before.

5. Cook crispy bacon

Lovers of bacon will be happy to know they no longer need to wait long for some crispy goodness in the morning. Turn a bowl upside down and drape the bacon over the top so that when it microwaves, the grease slides down the bowl. Each slice will take about 1 minute to cook up, which is great for when you are in a rush and only want a few slices. Be sure to put a plate under the bowl so you don’t get bacon all over the inside of your appliance.

6. Soften the honey

When honey gets older, it tends to crystalize. In order to liquify the honey again, the usual steps require putting the jar in hot water over the stove top and being patient. With a microwave you’ll shave off some time as it only takes 30 to 60 seconds to get the honey to a softened state.

While you don’t need any extra special microwave to create these concoctions, our Bosch appliances are able to handle the heat to make masterpieces. Check out all our Bosch over the range and built in microwaves, in stores today!
