Better sleep gives us a better day and a better life. Without it, our quality of health goes right down the drain. If you have trouble sleeping, it may not be your fault. A mattress plays a large part in your sleep, and it could be the very reason you are tossing and turning all night. If your bed is the least of your concerns, then creating sleep habits for yourself is a productive way to start harmonizing your sleep/life balance.
1. Schedule your sleep
One reason you may be struggling to get good night’s rest could be because you sleep and wake at odd and inconsistent hours. Going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time helps regulate your body’s clock. Your body begins to get used to the cycle and starts sleeping through the night on a more regular basis. Make sure to give your body time to sleep for at least 7 hours so it can be its healthiest.
2. Make a ritual
Creating a bedtime ritual for yourself is an effective way to help your mind relax every night. It could be as simple as dimming the lights in your bedroom so it isn’t so bright or eliminating the use of electronics while in bed. Whatever it is, it should be a calming and anxiety-free way to fall asleep.
3. Use exercise as a tool
Try and exercise everyday so that your body will rest well at night. It doesn’t have to be vigorous exercise either – even a little is better than none.
4. Check your mattress and pillows
Like we said before, your mattress plays a large part in your sleep. The life expectancy of most beds is about 10 years, so if you’ve been sleeping on one for longer than that, it may be time to start shopping around. If you don’t know where to start, try your local Simmons mattress store and check out Simmons Mattresses to get a feel for the one you like. Take your time researching and testing so that you find a mattress you are confident will change your sleeping situation for the better.
